Mt. Tobbio
08/09/2023 - Hiking Monte Tobbio - three hours and thirty minutes hike.
Hiked to the northern slopes of Mount Tobbio towards the summit with a view of the Apennines, the Po valley with the Alps to the north and the sea to the south.

Monte Tobbio is a 1092 metres high about 3,588 ft mountain of the Apennines. It's peak is annoited with a hand built stone church.

The trail is very open and so quiet with ups and downs with tons of rocks, but offers beautiful views of to the top of the mountain which leads to a beatiful handmade church. After about an hour we reach tree line and have beautiful, open views to the plains here in the region.
After leaving the forest it is a steep rocky climb of about fifty minutes to reach the summit of Tobbio (1092 m), from where the view spans 360 degrees from the Gorzente lakes, and to the Piedmontese plain.
The climb up taxes your breathing. The climb down taxes your knees.
There were several other trekkers, most having come up the easier route on the eastern side of the mountain. One group arrived with a full lunch of panini, insalata, wine, and even had a folding table!
All were very friendly and enjoying the cool breeze and sunshine.
